St. George's School of English offers a wide range of courses such as General English (semi-intensive, intensive) at all levels, IELTS, Cambridge examination preparation, Business English, etc. We are also able to offer individually designed courses (English and IT, English and Academic Subjects, English and Work Experience, etc.).  Our wide range of tailored courses like EU commissioned and funded courses (Socrates, Leonardo programmes etc.), school groups, cultural programmes and ministays, special teacher training courses etc. attract a vast number of clients every year.

We are also the only school in our area offering courses to Au Pairs.

 

 

TIMETABLE

 

Your lessons take place in the mornings and/or the afternoons.  Throughout the year, classes run Monday to Friday.  

There are no lessons on Saturdays or Sundays. 

There are no lessons on Bank Holidays or during Christmas holiday.  These dates are listed in the 'Important Dates' section below.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU FOR YOUR STUDIES

 

Bring pens and a notebook for writing along with you for your lessons.  You will be provided with study material to use during the lessons and for any extra topics you wish to cover.  If you are bringing a dictionary we suggest bringing on in your native language as well as one in English.  We offer the most recommended English dictionaries and self - study guide books in the office for special discounted student prices so don't worry if you do not have one.

YOUR LANGUAGE LEVEL

 

Before you leave for your course destination, you’ll need to log on to your My EF™ account and take our language test. We’ll use your results – along with an oral test on your first day of school – to make sure you’re in the right class. There are 6 different stages and each stage has 3 different levels (i.e. B1-1, B1-2 & B1-3).

 

  • A1 – Beginner

  • A2 – Elementary

  • B1 – Intermediate

  • B2 – Upper Intermediate

  • C1 – Advanced

  • C2 – Proficiency

TEACHING

 

You will be taught by teachers who are native English speakers.  Our friendly teaching staff are well qualified and experienced and offer excellent learning experiences to our students in classes of no more than 12 students per class between Sep - Jun and 15/16 during the summer. We are proud to say that our students continuously achieve the highest exam results in Cambridge Examinations in our area. The teaching approach is based on individual needs of every student and it is our responsibility to maximise the improvement in all language skills that our students are able to achieve during their stay with us.

OUR STUDENTS AND CLASSES

In a typical year we will welcome students from all over the world (predominantly from EU countries). Our minimum 

age is 16 (but we also welcome younger students in closed groups during the year).  From September to June most 

adults students are between 20 to 30.  We have no 

upper limit and about one third of our students are over 30. 

Students at St. George's School of English come from many different countries.  Normally you can meet students of over 40 nationalities every year at our school.  You will meet lots of new friends from all over the world - Brazilian, Czech, French, Taiwanese, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Danish etc. and will have a chance to actively practice your English. 

In July and August and in addition to our adult classes, we also run international classes for teenagers who come to Worthing to 

enjoy their summer vacation courses with us. 
We also run summer programmes for children (July and August) and have families joining us for their courses. Worthing is a 

perfect location for a family holiday and St. George's is the only school offering courses for students of all ages in our area.

YOUR BOOKING

 

 

You have made the first step and we are very excited to share some general information about us with you.  At this point we will send you your personal quotation and answer your questions. We still have a few more steps to go through before we see you though so here is how it goes...

STEP 1

We received your enquiry and sent you a personal email with your quotation and some general information.

STEP 2

We send you an enrolment form to complete with your booking details and send it back to us.

STEP 3

We email the invoice ready for payment 4 weeks before your course starts. Deposit payment is usually paid now.

STEP 4

After your payment, 2 weeks before your arrival we email you with the confirmed course details, accommodation, transfer, etc.

STEP 5

We send you a text with our emergency number on the last working day before your arrival and wish you a safe journey. :-)

PAYMENT AND TERMS

 

Check the terms and conditions of your booking before you book.

Once you booked and received your invoice you can make payments to us in the following ways:-

 

1. You can transfer the payment from your foreign bank account or your foreign credit / debit card to us in British Sterling or Euros and there are no fees to pay.

2. You can transfer paynent from your foreign bank account in Euros into our Euro account and there are no fees to do so. Please note that the exchange rate varies and you might need to pay a difference once the payment has been received by us.

(Option 2 - Moneycorp Euro transfer)

 

3. You can transfer payment from your foreign account into our British account, however there is a fee of £10 chargeable by our British banks and there might be a fee on your side too.

PASSPORT  AND VISA
 

Make sure your passport is valid for the duration of your stay and at least for 6 months after your departure.  We strongly advise to make a copy of your identification and store it safely just in case your ID gets lost.

 

We strongly advise all students to check their visa clearance before applying for their course.  Please note that there is a minimum non-refundable deposit of £100 to be paid before any letters are issued for your visa / visit application. St. George’s is a registered preparation centre for Cambridge Exams, IELTS, Trinity and is also registered with the British Council Schools Online.
