Student Gateway English School is passionate about providing speakers of other languages with greater opportunities in life, and gives them the inspiration to access effective and enjoyable English language education on a world-wide basis.

Our friendly team is looking for the right Activity Leader to join us in Worthing for our season starting in February/March (leading into summer school). We are looking for a caring, fun, enthusiastic, resourceful and responsible person who enjoys the company of others. 

 

Hours and dates are arranged in advance depending on groups we have booked but would include some Saturdays between 7.30am and 7.30pm, some afternoons from 1pm till 7pm and some evenings from 7pm till 9pm.
Our main activity season: February/March to October

KEY ROLES

• To accompany groups of teenage students and visitors and their teachers/leaders to places of interest and history such as London, Brighton, Portsmouth, Chichester, Arundel.

• To participate and organise social activities with cultural and English language interests.

• To encourage and reinforce social skills and friendships.

• Develop and extend the range of activities and interests the school can offer.

 

MAIN DUTIES

• Supervising and leading student visits to popular sights

• Acting as group guide; delivery of interesting programme; guidance to international teachers/leaders of the student group; supporting and participating in trip content development

• Consultation and reporting with leaders of international students, and colleagues as needed.

• Attendance at staff, team meetings and consultation meetings

• Participation in learner trips and visits, enrichment and guidance of learners

• Participation in marketing and promotional events

 

GENERAL DUTIES

The post holder will be required to:

• carry out their duties with due regard to the school’s policies, health and safety and quality assurance

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

The post holder will be required to have the following qualifications and skills:

• Must be a confident fluent speaker of English

• Good orientation skills

• Good problem solving skills

• Reasonable knowledge of London, Brighton, Arundel, Chichester and Portsmouth

• Confident user of trains and buses

• Good Time Management

• Must be committed and highly motivated

• Must have good communication skills

• Be caring and have patience

• To have general knowledge of British history and culture

• Be able to learn facts and present them in a captivating way

 

Required experience:

• As listed: not required, some customer experience preferable
